About SkeinMath
SkeinMath does the arithmetic that knitting and crochet patterns leave to you: spacing increases, estimating yarn, resizing with gauge.
Who runs it
SkeinMath is an independent website run by Luis Alberto Najar Isidro from Madrid, Spain. It is not connected to any yarn brand or shop. Full details are in the legal notice.
How the calculators are checked
- Every calculator shows how it reached the answer, so you can check it by hand.
- Before a calculator is published, it is tested with automated checks. The increase and decrease calculator, for example, is checked against more than 300,000 combinations to confirm that every instruction uses exactly the stitches you have and ends with the count it promises.
- Reference charts list their sources, such as the standards published by the Craft Yarn Council.
How the site is funded
The tools are free. The site is paid for by ads from Monetag, shown only if you accept advertising cookies. Ads never decide what we write, and we do not accept payment for recommendations.
Corrections
If a number looks wrong or a calculator gives a result you don't expect, write tocontact@skeinmath.com with the page and the numbers you entered.
